How We Help
How Royal City Windows & Doors Can Help
Sometimes these programs can be confusing, especially when rules and deadlines change.
When you request a quote from Royal City Windows & Doors, we’re here to help:
- Walk you through which rebates or loans you might qualify for
- Help you choose ENERGY STAR® certified products that meet program requirements
- Coordinate your upgrade to fit within any assessment or completion deadlines
- Provide detailed quotes and documentation you may need for your application
Window & Doors Rebate
Home Renovation Savings Program
The Home Renovation Savings Program is currently the main provincial program for energy-efficient upgrades in Ontario. It’s delivered by Save on Energy and Enbridge Gas, with support from the Ontario government.
How It Helps:
- $100 back per rough opening for eligible ENERGY STAR® certified windows or doors
- Additional rebates available if you bundle windows/doors with other upgrades as part of a broader home energy improvement plan
- In many cases, total rebates can cover up to about 30% of project costs when combined with other eligible retrofits
Basic Eligibility:
- You must own the home and live in it as your primary residence (most low-rise homes qualify)
- Windows and doors must be ENERGY STAR® certified
- Complete a home energy assessment (you can get up to $600 back for this)
- Complete two or more eligible upgrades (e.g., windows/doors plus insulation)
There is also a “single upgrades” path for certain measures, but most window and door rebates are under the assessment/bundled stream.
Window & Doors Financing
Guelph Greener Homes Program
For homeowners inside the City of Guelph, the Guelph Greener Homes Program is a strong option to help finance bigger upgrades. This program focuses more on financing and support than straight cash rebates, but windows and doors are eligible upgrades.
How It Helps:
- 0% interest loans up to $50,000, typically repaid through your property tax bill over up to 10 years
- Up to $15,000 in grants for certain low-income households (primarily targeted at heat pump installations, but the loan portion can support windows/doors as part of an overall energy plan)
Basic Eligibility:
- You own a low-rise home in Guelph with a City property tax account
- The property is generally at least 5 years old
- Taxes are up to date and all owners agree to participate
- Work can’t start until your application is approved
If you’re in Guelph and planning a larger project—new windows and doors plus other upgrades—this program is worth a serious look.
Window & Doors Loan
Ontario Renovates Program
For homeowners in parts of the Region of Waterloo, the Ontario Renovates Program provides forgivable loans up to $25,000 to help low- to moderate-income households keep their homes in good repair. This is not a pure “energy efficiency” program, but doors and windows are listed as eligible repairs, along with roofs, foundations, plumbing, electrical, and accessibility modifications.
How It Helps:
- Forgivable loans up to $25,000 to help low- to moderate-income households keep their homes in good repair.
Basic Eligibility:
- Homeowners who meet income and property value limits
- People who need help addressing essential health/safety or structural issues
If you’re a customer in Kitchener-Waterloo and dealing with serious window or door issues with a limited budget, this program could help.
Save on Energy
Energy Affordability Program
In addition to major rebate programs, Save on Energy runs the Energy Affordability Program, which provides free kits and in-home upgrades for eligible low-income households.
How It Helps:
- Draft sealing around windows and doors
- Smart power bars, efficient lighting and other small upgrades
Basic Eligibility:
- Homeowners who meet income and property value limits
- People who need help addressing essential health/safety or structural issues
It’s a good complement to bigger renovation programs for households trying to manage energy costs.
